CREST Waltham Forest currently needs to recruit a volunteer Treasurer. The overall role of the Treasurer is to:
- Maintain an overview of the CREST’s affairs
- Ensure its financial viability
- Ensure that proper financial records and procedures are maintained.
The person we are looking for will ideally combine a commitment to the organisation with the willingness to devote the necessary time and effort . They will have strategic vision, good, independent judgement, and the ability to think creatively. They will not be afraid to speak their mind with an understanding and acceptance of the legal duties, responsibilities and liabilities of trusteeship. They will have the ability to work effectively as a member of a team and hopefully come with some financial qualifications and experience.
Ideally they will come with some experience of charity finance, fundraising and pension schemes, and have the skills to analyse proposals and examine their financial consequences with a preparedness to make unpopular recommendations to the board.
The Treasurer is a director of the company as well as being a charity trustee. The role involves the minimum commitment of attending a monthly committee meeting held on a weekday evening.
CREST’s work is diverse ranging from a day service for older people with disability/dementia to a charity shop; from support for people with mild to moderate mental health issues to the operation of a vibrant community centre at the heart of the borough. CREST is also the local trusted organisation for both of the Lottery Big Local regeneration schemes in Waltham Forest.
