Poppies — hope, reflection and remembrance
This painting (Homage to the Bard) was the winner of thinkarts! 2013 “New Dawn” competition. It combined the theme of mental health recovery with William Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet. All pieces submitted were included in a Southbank exhibition at Southwark Cathedral.
For 2015, thinkarts! has launched another competition once more culminating with an exhibition at Southwark Cathedral. To link in with the Cathedral’s programme reflecting upon the 100th anniversary of the First World War, the theme this time is “Poppies — hope, reflection and remembrance“. Although the theme originates from the First World War, artists have been encouraged not to feel constrained to produce work just about the suffering of the war – they have been encouraged to interpret the theme in whatever way they wish. The exhibition will take place in the Refectory at the Cathedral from 25th May to 8th June 2015 — entrance is free. The deadline for thinkarts! members to contribute is Tuesday 5th May 2015.
