CREST has been providing services directly benefiting local people experiencing mental health problems since 1995 when it worked with the chaplaincy team at Claybury Hospital to create the Waltham Forest Mental Health Befriending Service as a part of the strategy surrounding the closure of the hospital.
Over the next decade it added to the Befriending Service the Sunshine Club, which was an out-of-hours drop-in facility on Saturday afternoons and Thursday evenings.
Funding for these finally ran out and, at the same time, CREST was commissioned to set up Evolve — a primary care Mental Health Bridge Building Service. This then developed in to a Navigators’ Service for those returning from secondary care in to the care of their GP. In December 2015, funding for this service was terminated and Evolve disbanded.
CREST has also taken responsibility responsibility for thinkarts! which spans north-east London and exists to promote well-being through artistic expression
