CREST Is Now Doubly Trusted
Just two areas of Walthamstow have been designated to benefit under the National lottery Big Local programme over the next ten years. The Big Local is a long-term, innovative Lottery programme that aims to achieve lasting change in 150 areas in England. It provides a mixture of funding, finance and support. Each chosen area benefits to the tune of £1m to be spent over a ten-year period.
Having been the local trusted organisation for the St James Street Big Local for the last two years, CREST has now also been chosen to be the local trusted organisation for the other Walthamstow Big Local — the William Morris Big Local. This is overseen by a partnership — a group of people who live and work in the William Morris ward of Waltham Forest who want to improve the community now and in the future. They are the people responsible for guiding the overall direction of the Big Local in their area. As a Big Local area, the Big Lottery Fund is holding £1 million pounds in trust for the partnership while they agree after consultation with their community how best to use it.
In future CREST’s role will be to receive and administer funding for both the William Morris and St James Big Local partnerships, and to ensure that it is spent in line with their Big Local plan.
