ABOUT US
CREST Waltham Forest is an ecumenical Christian social action charity, established by the churches of the borough in 1971. Managed by local people, CREST currently works in the following fields:- Disability -- approximately 75 isolated local older people with a disability are served each week by three projects which provide educational, healthy living and social opportunities to help combat their loneliness and isolation. Email: disability@crestwf.org.uk
- Mental Health -- two separate but linked projects provide weekly support to over fifty local users of mental health services. Befrienders are trained to provide weekly social support to people who are socially isolated, and experiencing significant and enduring mental health problems. In addition, an informal drop-in operates on Saturday afternoons offering a cooked meal and activities. Email: m.couldridge@crestwf.org.uk
- Community Accommodation -- based just off Walthamstow High Street CREST administers Harmony Hall, a multicultural family centre serving the people of central Walthamstow. It offers two large halls plus a meeting room/IT suite for hire. Open from 9am to 11pm, seven days a week, it hosts a whole range of adult education classes, community groups and faith communities.
